Celebrate The Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival With Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai

Celebrate the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival with mooncakes, special menus and festive lantern decorations at Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai.

The Mid-Autumn Festival is observed on the 15th day of the eighth month in the Chinese calendar, falling on 24 September in 2018. The tradition, which is over 3,500 years old, also commemorates the end of the autumn harvest and is celebrated with the gathering of friends and family, worshipping of the moon and exchanging of mooncakes.

In ancient times, mooncakes were seen as an offering to the moon, however over the centuries these special cakes have become a staple of the Mid-Autumn Festival. Mooncakes are made with a pastry skin enclosing a sweet, dense filling such as red bean paste or fruits and vegetables, which symbolise completeness and togetherness.

In addition to mooncakes available for sale, Shang Palace, the signature Chinese restaurant of Shangri-La hotels worldwide, will be offering a special set menu from 24 to 31 September. Priced at AED 198 per person, guests can delight in traditional delicacies including dim sum platters, sliced duck with soy chilli sauce and marinated celery and sautéed Angus beef with mushrooms and asparagus.

For more information, to purchase mooncakes or to make a reservation, please contact Shang Palace at Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai, via telephone 04 405 2760 or email shangpalace.sldb@shangri-la.com.
