In celebration of the 8th annual Global Day of Discovery on 16th May, special guests of the Renaissance Downtown Hotel were invited to Discover Dubai This Way and uncover the city’s hidden gems for one memorable evening.
Led by the Renaissance Navigator, Cleatus George, who guides guests to discover unexpected local haunts during their stay, the curated experience began with a ‘Taste the Neighbourhood’ culinary induction at the hotel, representing Dubai’s melting pot of cultures through fusion bites. Guests were introduced to a very special Punchbowl Ritual, which combined local spices such as cardamom with Japanese matcha green tea for a special Global Day of Discovery Japanese/Arabic non-alcoholic beverage.
The journey next took guests to Dubai’s budding arts district Alserkal Avenue in the industrial area of Al Quoz, where the hotel partnered with local establishments that embody the soul of the neighborhood. Upon arrival guests followed imprinted footsteps that led to a variety of culinary, fashion and design experiences showcasing the district’s distinct sensibility that seamlessly blends the concept of “East meets West”. At the concept store Chi-Ka, invitees were encouraged to absorb the cultural exchange between Japan and the UAE, with a kimono-abaya art display and exhibition, custom fitting, Japanese tea ceremony and modern Arabic henna workshop. The final stop was an exclusive guided tour and tasting of international chocolatier, Mirzan, where guests experienced every aspect of chocolate making, from coco bean sorting to hand-wrapping each bar.
