dusitD2 Kenz Hotel Launches Very First Annual Art Week

Connect with and be inspired by art this October. Contemporary and upscale dusitD2 Kenz Hotel located in Barsha Heights will be initiating its first annual Art Week event from October 13-19, 2019 in pursuit of encouraging connectivity between artists and the community, in parallel to driving more engaging local art initiatives. Art Week will be open to the public of U.A.E. to witness great pieces in-the-making by talented local and international artists, engage in multiple creative workshops, and have the opportunity to own some of their pieces to support their work.

With the goal of reviving the core identity of being an art-driven hotel, dusitD2 Kenz Hotel’s Art Week will be leaving their mark and a lasting impact on U.A.E.’s growing art scene as a boutique initiative that reigns closer to home. Connecting the greater U.A.E. public, dusitD2 Kenz Hotel’s one-week event will provide creatives with a new opportunity to gain exposure and engage with the wider U.A.E. public through captivating, art inspired initiatives. Art Week will bring the public on an immersive experience where they can observe, purchase, connect and learn from local Dubai artists who are set to create unique pieces that will be showcased all week.

Eight famous artists have been selected as the ‘main contributors’ of the event, who will be performing live painting from start to end. Guests can expect nothing but pure creativity, passion and artistry from these up-and-comers, and will have the opportunity to watch the creative process take place, artist to artist. In parallel to witnessing the main artists create their pieces, dusitD2 Kenz Hotel will offer a rich programme of various workshops where guests can put their own skills to the test at no cost at all. Kicking off on October 13th, these workshops consist of everything from photography, portrait sketching, calligraphy writing, and mandala creation. After the workshop, relax with natural daylight streaming through the windows and the smell of rich olive oil over fresh baked bread, at dusit’s famous restaurant and cafe ‘Ostro’ where patrons can dine and receive free faces sketching done by a live a caricature artist.

“The passion for art runs deep in dusitD2 and its team’s roots,” explains General Manager, Bassam Zakaria. “From inception, art can be noticed in the property’s blueprints and the themes that have guided most decisions at dusitD2 Dubai. Art has always been ingrained in our DNA. It’s time we revive the art spirit at D2, and in our way, give back by recognizing distinguished artists and reactivating the talented art community in U.A.E.”

dusitD2 kenz hotel has connected and searched U.A.E.’s talented community and selected skilled artists who all boast of many achievements and collections that have been unveiled in various exhibitions around the UAE. See below the main artists of the event that have been selected to perform live painting demonstrations on large canvases;

Narjes Noureddine

Narjes is an award-winning calligrapher based in the UAE and has been practicing this art since 2000. She has been internationally recognized since 2004 with her first int’l award from IRCICA – Istanbul. She was also awarded for her classic calligraphy work in the Algeria’s Int’l Cultural Calligraphy Festival – Tlemcen – Algeria, 2011.Narjes delivers her artworks in different forms ranging from classical calligraphy plates, to modern paintings, murals and sculptures. She’s implemented the permanent calligraphy murals “Diwan Osha” in the Women’s Museum, the façade artwork of the GDRFA, dozens of other artworks and murals for Emaar’s Boulevard Plaza Towers, Arady’s Central Park Towers in DIFC, RAK Investment Authority, a chandelier

Fatima Al Budoor

Born in Dubai, Fatima is BFA Studio Art degree graduate with a minor in Graphic Design from Northeastern University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts in Boston, USA. Fatima is currently a member of Tashkeel Studio and Gallery and a graduate of the Salama bint Hamdan Emerging Artist Fellowship (SEAF 2016.) Fatima’s work is based in printmaking, photography, and drawing. It focuses on her transient experiences in life and relationships.

Sana Maarrawi

Sana Maarrawi is a self-taught realism artist from Syria, based in Dubai, UAE. In her work, Sana captures the finest details at a particular moment of life. She expresses in each artwork her dedication to human and animal rights, using the voice of art to reach out, to inspire and to tell the stories of others, such as the endangered animal species, the crime against wildlife.

Nour Milhem

Nour Milhem is a Jordanian-born, Palestinian artist who has been raised in Dubai. Nour’s greatest achievement have been cycling 400km across four countries in four days to raise awareness about the occupation in Gaza, Palestine, and to raise funds for PCRF (Palestine Children’s Relief Fund). Nour’s art is an expression of her views of the human body, often creating pieces that are minimalist interpretations of various female and male figures.

Maria Munteanu

Maria Moon is a UAE-based artist specializing in oil, acrylic, watercolour and mural painting. Maria had the opportunity to study Fine arts and design at the Pedagogical State University Ion Creanga in Chisinau, Moldova, where she discovered her style.

Mai Majdy

Mai Majdy was born in Tripoli, and has been raised in the United Arab Emirates. Her work has been showcased on several exhibitions and art fairs within Cairo and Dubai. She has been teaching art skills and techniques for adults through professional workshops for over 5 years.

Natasha Gunaratna

Natasha is cross-disciplinary artist whose work integrates and spans illustration, artistic direction, branding, typography and mural design. Natasha’s work is constantly evolving brand and identities to bring value through artistic expression.
