Leading up to We Create Drama—Paramount Hotel’s biggest film festival kicking off this March—Paramount Hotel Dubai has once again demonstrated its commitment to nurturing the next generation of filmmakers. In collaboration with SAE University College, the hotel proudly supported The Black Sheep Film Festival, an annual event showcasing the exceptional work of SAE’s student filmmakers.
With 410 passionate attendees and some of the industry’s most exciting names, The Black Sheep Film Festival was a true celebration of storytelling and creativity. The event provided a powerful platform for young filmmakers to share their work, connect with industry leaders and gain invaluable insights into the world of cinema.
A standout moment of the festival was a compelling panel discussion featuring three influential Emirati filmmakers—Nayla Al Khaja, Maitha Alawadi, and Nawaf Al Janhi—moderated by Razan Takash, Head of Film at SAE and Festival Director. The conversation sparked meaningful discussions that resonated deeply with both emerging filmmakers and seasoned industry veterans.
The festival also welcomed notable figures such as Jean-Charles Levy, producer of The Last Mercenary on Netflix, Nathalie Habib, Co-Owner of Blink Studios, and Rik Aby, star of Goat Life. Additionally, prestigious media representatives, including Valérie Fouques – Regional Audiovisual Attaché for the French Embassy and Tara – Media Relations Manager – U.S. State Department (Abu Dhabi, were in attendance.
As part of its commitment to fostering new talent, Advanced Media proudly sponsored prizes for outstanding filmmakers, further empowering them to refine their craft and pursue their cinematic dreams.
Beyond the glitz and glamour, The Black Sheep Film Festival stands as a vital initiative dedicated to supporting the future of filmmaking. This aligns with Paramount Hotel Dubai’s broader vision for We Create Drama, which not only celebrates young talent but also provides a platform for emerging and startup filmmakers to showcase their scripts, short films and creative projects.
