With its mantra of ‘think globally, act locally’ Steigenberger Hotel Business Bay has already started planning initiatives that will benefit the neighbouring community in Business Bay over Ramadan. After last year’s heartening outcome, the hotel is gearing up to host the Sharing Fridge concept once again.
Sharing food and drinks during the Holy Month is nothing new, however the Ramadan Sharing Fridge initiative has paved the way for this initiative to gain momentum, acceptance, and to become mainstream. With a desire to engage in meaningful community service, Steigenberger Hotel Business Bay will be setting up and replenishing refrigerators just outside the property. Stocked with drinking water, juices, laban, soda, milk as well as fresh fruits and a variety of other snacks, these fridges offer an opportunity for those in need to pick up a refreshing drink or healthy snack ready for when they break their fast at the end of a long and hot day.
Steigenberger is taking it a step further by encouraging neighbouring hotels and residents to be a part of this initiative, by replicating the concept at their hotel. Inviting other hoteliers to the Sharing Fridges Challenge, General Manager Stephen Meredith envisions a stronger sense of community not just with residents but also hotel guests, embracing completely, the spirit of Ramadan.
“The idea is to come together as a community, to join hands and make tasty safe food and drinks available to anybody who needs it. The outcome of last year’s Ramadan Sharing Fridge was nothing short of heart warming, and this year we want to widen our circle and rope our neighbours in too. We have shared a video on Facebook inviting our colleagues from hotels in our vicinity to join in, and believe that together we can make a big difference,” states Stephen Meredith, General Manager.
The Sharing Fridges Challenge is open to anyone who is looking for a way to help the community.
