This March, The H Dubai is collaborating with local artist Ibrahim Gailani for what is set to be another phenomenal season of art exhibitions, coupled with the first ever art retreat in the UAE. In an all-day session of guided creative processes, participants are to be taken on a soulful journey of meditation, painting, and music. No prior experience in painting or other artform is required, the only requirement, however, is the willingness to let go.
The Gailani Art Retreat is a full day escapade that will be held once a month, bringing together creative souls to paint to the rhythm of global thematic music. The artistic escape starts off with participants connecting with their inner consciousness through a deep meditation session, before pouring their feelings out on a canvas, and proceeding to share their self-expression with the group. These retreats hold immense value not just for artists, but also for professionals from other fields, looking for an outlet for their creativity and pent-up emotions.
A typical day at the art retreat starts off with a guided meditation and visualisation session, followed by a few immersive hours of painting to rhythmic music, interspersed with a complimentary buffet lunch. The day ends with a discussion and reflection session with the rest of the group. Each retreat has a specific topic, and a customised music playlist designed and arranged specially to match the mood of the event. These retreats are always held on a weekend and last for 7.5 hours; with 4.5 hours of painting, 2 hours of discussions, and 1 hour of meal breaks. Basic art supplies will be provided at the venue, but all participants are welcome to bring their own supplies if they wish, as long as they are water based acrylic paints.
Founded by Ibrahim Gailani, this art retreat is the native Pakistani artist’s pet-project and a true reflection of his artistic ideologies. A firm believer in mindfulness and the power of manifestation, Gailani relinquished a corporate career and rekindled his passion for art, and now takes the magic of his brush along with him around the world, which you can witness first hand at The H Dubai.
