World Art Dubai And Rove Hotels Name Next Emerging Visual Artist

World Art Dubai 2020, the region’s leading affordable and accessible art fair, and Rove Hotels, the official hotel partner for the fair, have named the winner of the second Emerging Visual Artists Prize, following the event’s conclusion at Dubai World Trade Centre on October 10.

Selected by a panel of judges, Shrutika Gosavi, a Dubai resident since 2011, was awarded with a complimentary space to exhibit at World Art Dubai 2021for her piece, ‘Virat Roopa’.

“I am extremely honoured and thankful for the opportunity,” said Gosavi.“I’ve always been inspired by mythology and old stories passed down through generations, so I want to put contemporary twists on these legends for my solo exhibition next year. I’ve also been working on a project relating to leftover food that I want to build on, it’s going to be fun seeing where the work goes.”

Shrutika was one of more than 500 entrants in this year’s competition, which was judged by World Art Dubai curator, Petra Kaltenbach; Emerging Scene founder, Rebia Naim; and the Rove Hotels team.

“This year’s Emerging Artist Prize has seen some amazing talent and the overall quality of the paintings speak for the success of the initiative,” Paul Bridger from Rove Hotels said. “Through creative initiatives, such as our ongoing partnership with World Art Dubai, we are able to provide worthwhile opportunities for emerging local artists to showcase their work. By doing so, we hope to nurture even more artistic talent within the community and inspire future generations of local artists to pursue their creative passions.”

Kaltenbach added: “Shrutika’s piece stood out for its unique and unmistakable style, creativity and use of colour. After placed in the top 20 last year, she’s continued to impress me with her dedication and consistent work. I look forward to seeing what she will bring to World Art Dubai 2021.”
